Beginner-to-Intermediate project: The overlapping bead rings of this anklet can be used in just about any type of jewelry, such as earrings, necklaces, and bracelets.

Cindy Gimbrone calls her lampwork spirals “The Spiral of Kronos.” The glass spiral evokes our own journeys through time, fragile, yet strong, both sweet and strange. Silver wire is used to wrap the spiral itself with crystal fruits, and hung the bead from three slender ribbons wrapped with moons, more crystals, and silver spirals. Just as a single step can become a journey, a single bead can grow into a piece rich with meaning.

This wire and crystal bracelet takes advantage of some beautiful curved sterling tube beads. Using fine wire as double eye pins through each link gives you a perfect spot for your crystal dangles. The elegant finished bracelet belies the simple technique!

Here’s a free downloadable jewelry project from Kalmbach Publishing that was posted on the jewelryandbeading.com blog. It is from the January 2007 issue of BeadStyle magazine . This one is called “Quick Knots Yield a Delicate Necklace,” and along with the necklace, there is also instructions for matching earrings. The necklace incorporates techniques of knotting to create stations of pearl beads, and the focal piece is a large gemstone bead.
